
David Eckstein is a professional baseball player from Sanford, Fla. At 5'7", Eckstein is one of the shortest baseball players in Major League Baseball. Eckstein went to Sanford's Seminole High School where he played second base and won a Florida High School Athletic Association state championship. He walked on at Florida then secured a scholarship by his sophomore year in 1994.Eckstein was a first-team All-American in 1996. He made his major league debut in 2001 with the Anaheim Angels. Eckstein led the league in being hit by pitches and sacrifice hits in 2001 and 2002. He scored six runs during the 2002 World Series to help the Angels win their first title. The short stop was the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2006 when he helped the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Detroit Tigers in five games. Eckstein is the son of Pat and Whitey Eckstein and the youngest of five children. He married actress Ashley Drane in 2005
